In the early stages of restoration ........
In 2011 we sourced a rusty Citroen H van from just south of Le Mans in France. We then transported it home & spent many, many months lovingly restoring it.
These vans were one of the most enduring icons of post-war provincial France & production began in 1948. They were a ubiquitous sight in every French marketplace selling bread, frites & farm produce.
Our van has been converted to provide a self-powered catering unit. It can be powered by electricity or run off gas, leisure batteries & a solar panel. It is fitted with an espresso machine, griddle, oven & a fridge. We are constantly searching for & trying out new recipes so things will keep evolving. Having said that, there will also be a few old favourites that will remain.
Our aim is to keep things local, in & around Kent, which is a good things as the maximum speed on the van is 50mph!
